Los Angeles police have been conducting a criminal investigation to see whether manslaughter charges are warranted against Dr. Conrad Murray, who was taking care of Mr. Jackson on the morning he died at a rented west Los Angeles mansion.

　　In a brief news release Friday, the coroner's office said Mr. Jackson's death was due to a combination of the anesthetic propofol and other medications, particularly lorazepam, which is often used to treat anxiety and can produce drowsiness. The coroner's office said other drugs detected in Mr. Jackson's system were midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine and ephedrine.

The affidavit said the coroner had told police that Mr. Jackson's death was likely due to 'lethal levels' of propofol. It said Dr. Murray acknowledged giving Mr. Jackson propofol on the morning of his death.

For example, Mr. Chernoff said that the timeline of events on the morning of Mr. Jackson's death hadn't been provided by Dr. Murray, even though the affidavit 'implied' it had.
