主持人：Hi Josh, i get so afriad to speak in english whenever I face with a foreigner, and I get competely speechless. Could you give me some advice?
J.M.: One of those things that you should realise is that most foreigners that are in China, most are away from homes, away from their families. And we are very excited when someone comes up and speak English to us. If we hear English that is not perfect, we don't think, "Oh, what for bad English, your English is so bad". We'd very impressed, "we want to speak Chinese as good as you speak English". So really feel confidence in yourself and approah someone and say whatever you want to say. We're happy to hear it, because there're a lot of people in this country, somewhere we feel we're lost in the crowd and away from home.
你要明白的一件事是，在中国的许多外国人，我们远离家、远离朋友。如果有人走上前来和我们说英文，我们会很激动的。如果这个人的英文不是很好，我们绝对不会想“这个人的英语怎么这么差”，而是会很震惊，觉得“如果我的中文说得和你英文一样好就好了”。所以，实在应该对你自己有信心，去找人说英文，无论你说什么，我们都很高兴听到。这大概是因为这个国家人太多了，在这里我们有时候会觉得在人群中迷失，觉得孤单想家。
主持人:Dear Josh, I work around a lot of foreigners, but I think it is difficult for me to talk to them about things other than work related, I think it's because of the cultural differences. Should I learn more about the western culture?
J.M.: Yes or no. I personlly feel that as a foreigner in China it is our responsibily to get to know more about chinese culture. If you're interest in the western culture, and you want to know more about it simply because you're interested in, yeah, it's a good idea. But I think it's also a good idea to approach foreigners, let them know about your culture. Most of them have come to China to learn about chinese culture, to experience chinese things, and Some of them have forgotten that. So I think is a good idea to appraoch them, you have a 5000-years history, that's a lot of things to talk about.
主持人:This is the most frequently asked question. How do I improve my oral english or how do I become a better english speaker?
J.M.: Ok, it's probably the most frequently question I'm asked before. There is no better answer than" To use the english you study". The English you use is the English you'll remember. Many people try to study lists of vocabulary, or they study grammar. All of these are important, but remember, the only English you remember is the English you use. 就像现在我学汉语，我不用汉语，那么听听我就忘了。Now I don't speak Chinese very well, but everytime I use a word, if I use them three or four times, I'll remember, and then I can add them to my volcabulary.
这也是我最经常被问到的问题。答案就是，使用你学到的英语，这是最有效的。你用的英语才是你记住的英文。许多人背单词表，学语法，虽然这些也很重要，但一定要记住，你只能记住你使用的英文。就像现在我学汉语，我不用汉语，那么听听我就忘了。我的汉语说的不好，但每次我使用一个字，我用三到四次，我就会记住，这也就成为我学会的字了。
