Y: We'd better hurry. They're boarding already.
X: OK. Let's go. But which way is Gate 20?
Y: Oh, here comes a man. Let's ask him...Excuse me. Can you direct me to Gate 20, please?
Z: Sure. Go down the stairs right over there and you'll see some directions. Just follow them.
Y: 我们最好快一点，大家已在登机了。
X: 好，那就走吧。但二十号登机门是在哪儿呢？
Y: 哦，前面来了一个人，我们问问他吧。……对不起，请问二十号登机门怎么走？

字词词组精解
1.hurry vi. 赶快
a.这个字老外习惯在后面加上一个副词"up", 形成词组:
hurry up 赶快, 快一点
例: Hurry up, or you will not catch the train.
(快点，否则你会赶不上火车。)
b.hurry也常在后面接另一个副词through, 然后再接受词, 形成下列词组:
hurry through... 匆忙赶完……
例: James hurried through his work in one hour.
(詹姆士在一小时内匆忙赶完工作。)
c.hurry亦可当名词使用, 表『匆促』、『急忙』。
例: We still have plenty of time. What's the hurry?
(我们仍有很多时间，干嘛那么急呢？)
d.常用的一个重要词组:
in a hurry 匆忙地, 急匆匆地
=in a rush
例: James was in a hurry to meet his girlfriend.
=James was in a rush to meet his girlfriend.
(詹姆士急着去见他的女友。)
2.board [ b rd ] vi. & vt. 登上 (飞机、车船等)
＊文中本句的主词they是泛指『旅客们』(passengers) 在本句里, board为不及物动词, 不过此字亦常以及物动词使用。
例: We'd better board the plane now.
及物动词
(我们最好现在登机。)
Passengers are boarding already.
不及物动词
(旅客们已在登机了。)
3.direct vt. 指点, 指导
＊本字为及物动词, 其后常接人, 再接介词to, 而形成下列词组:
direct + 人 + to + 地方名词 指点某人到某地的方向
=show + 人 + the way + to + 地方名词
例: Could you direct me to the station?
=Could you show me the way to the station?
(请您告诉我到火车站的方向好吗？)
4.stair n. 阶梯, 楼梯 (常用复数)
a flight of stairs 一段楼梯
例: The stairs are steep.
(这楼梯很陡。)
Peter almost fainted when he climbed up the stairs because he is fat and in bad shape.
(彼得爬上楼梯后几乎昏倒，因为他又胖又不健康。)
5.direction n. 方向, 指示
in the direction of... 在……方向
例: The car is heading in the direction of the city hall.
(那车子正朝向市政府开去。)
I asked the beautiful young lady for directions to the station.
(我向那位漂亮的年轻小姐请问去车站的路。)
句型运用
1.We'd better hurry. 我们最好快一点。
＊文中本句乃由"had better + 原形动词"的句构而来, 表『最好……』的意思, 不过, 在一般会话口语及书写中, 表人称的主词常与had连写成如I'd, you'd或they'd等缩写字。hurry在这儿是原形动词。
例: You had better study hard.
=You'd better study hard.
(你最好努力读书。)
2.But which way is Gate 20? 但二十号登机门怎么走呢？
which way 哪个方向
例: Can you tell me which way is the station?
=Can you tell me which way to the station?
=How can I get to the station?
(你能告诉我到火车站怎么走吗？)
3.Can you direct me to Gate 20, please?
请你告诉我到二十号登机门怎么走好吗？
direct + 人 + to + 地方 指点某人到/某地
＝show + 人 + to + 地方
例: Can you direct me to the Taipei City Bank?
=Can you show me the way to the Taipei City Bank?
