Y: Excuse me. Would you mind trading seats with me?
X: Not at all.
Y: Oh, thank you. That's very kind of you.
X: You're welcome. I prefer a window seat.
Y: Oh, you do? Good. Looking out of the window sometimes scares me. So I prefer to be the man in the middle.

字词词组精解
1.mind vt. 介意, 在意
a.mind当『介意』解时, 其后通常接动名词。
例: Would you mind opening the door?
动名词
(请问你在意打开门吗？)
Would you mind lending me some money?
动名词
(请问你介意借我一些钱吗？)
b.回答此类询问时, 若是表『不介意』, 千万不可用『Yes』回答, 因为那即表示了『是的, 我很介意……』, 我们欲表『不在意』的正确答话, 应是:
Not at all. (一点也不介意。) 或Of course not. (当然不介意。)
c.若果真『介意』时, 总不能硬着头皮说"Yes."或"Of course."然后让自己身心遭殃吧？此时, 我们就该这么说了: "Well,..."然后耸耸肩, 摇头晃脑一阵, 人家就知道你是什么意思了。
d.mind尚有下列重要用法:
1)当别人因某事向我们道谢时, 我们应客气回答"Never mind." (别客
气。)
例: A: Thank you very much.
B: Never mind.
=Not at all.
=You're welcome.
(甲: 非常谢谢你。)
(乙: 别客气。)
2)若我们向别人请求帮助, 而对方因不便而推辞时, 我们就说"Never
mind." (没关系。)
例: A: Sorry, I cannot help you.
B: Never mind.
(= That's all right.)
(甲: 抱歉，我不能帮助你。)
(乙: 没关系。)
2.trade vt. 交换 (位子、产品、货物等) & n. 生意, 贸易
trade seats with sb 与某人交换位子
trade A for B 用A来交换B
例: I'd like to sit by the window; may I trade seats with you?
(我喜欢窗边座位，可以和你换位子吗？)
Tom wanted to trade his ball for Bill's toy truck.
(汤姆想用球换比尔的玩具卡车。)
3.seat n. 位子, 座位
＊这个字是很常用且重要的, 雄哥在第二单元里, 才刚刚详细的说明过, 这儿就不再重复, 请诸位有空『温故』一下旧功课, 那么也就可以『知新』了。
4.prefer vt. 比较喜欢 (通常指在两项事物中做一选择)
须注意prefer有两个常用而重要的用法:
a.prefer A to B 较喜欢A而不喜欢B (to是介系词, 表"针对"B而言)
例: I prefer apples to bananas.
(我较喜欢苹果而不喜欢香蕉。)
I prefer staying home to going out with them.
(我宁愿留在家而不愿与他们外出。)
b.prefer to + 原形动词 + instead of + 动名词
rather than + 原形动词
例: I prefer to study instead of playing with him.
rather than play with him.
(我宁愿读书而不愿与他玩。)
5.scare [ sk r ] vt. 使害怕, 使吃惊
例: My brother likes to scare me.
(我哥哥喜欢吓我。)
句型运用
1.Would you mind + 动名词 你介意……吗？
Would you mind + if 过去式子句？
例: Would you mind lending me your dictionary?
=Would you mind if I borrowed your dictionary?
(你在意把字典借给我吗？)
注意:
a.would开头的疑问句, 表示一种婉转语气。
b.if子句中用过去式, 乃因would you mind中的would是过去式助动词, 所以if子句中的动词时态亦得用过去式, 以求全句时态的对称。
但若助动词是现在式do时, 则if子句中的动词则采现在式。
例: Would you mind if I opened the window?(客气)
=Do you mind if I open the window? (较不客气)
(你介意我开窗吗？)
2.That's very kind of you. 你真好。
此句通常用在别人帮忙我们后, 表示感谢的客气话。
例: Bob: John, I have finished painting the wall.
John: Thank you very much. That's very kind of you.
(鲍伯: 约翰，我把墙漆好了。)
(约翰: 非常谢谢你。你真好。)
