--Michelle and I did a walk around in Gamla Stan, which is old town in Stockholm, with our friend Gunilla.

-- Gamla Stan is the oldest part of Stockholm, hence the name.
格拉斯坦是斯德哥尔摩最老的城镇，由名字即可得知。
-- How old is that?
这里历史有多久？
--Well, there are almost three hundred building in the old town and two thirds come from the Middle Ages.
古城中有近三百栋建筑。三分之二建于中世纪。
-- The colors are so beautiful.
颜色很新鲜。
-- Yes, they are. It looks very much like other cities around the Baltic Sea, Saint Petersburg or Italian or, a little bit like Helsinki. And northern Germany, we were very influenced by the Germans in the old days.
是的，的确。看来像是波罗的海边的其它城市。像是圣彼得堡，意大利，也有点像赫尔辛基，或是德国北部。以前我们受德国的影响很大。
-- Oh, look at that. What is that?
看看那里，那是什么？
-- Because that is what we call a roonstone. These are the stones that the Vikings put up, you know, the Vikings between 850 and 1000, 1020.
我们称它为roonstone, 是维京人所放置的石材。即那些公元850年到1020年，在这里的维京人。
-- So this is the, the thinnest street in Gamla Stan?
这个就是这里最细狭的街道？
-- Yes.
是的。
-- This is the most narrow street in Stockholm, by the name of Marten Trotzigs Grand. He was a wine merchant coming from Germany, back in the beginning of the 17th Century.
这是斯德哥尔摩最狭窄的街道。叫做马汀佗兹小道。他是17世纪初一位德国酒商。
-- Stockholm is exactly like one of those small little towns down around the Mediterranean, for example, with very narrow streets to keep out the heat. And we do the opposite, we keep out the cold. Because, you know, in winter time, it tends to get quite cold.
斯德哥尔摩很像地中海岸边的小城镇。小街道可以是用来隔绝热气。我们恰恰相反，是用来隔绝寒冷。因为在冬天时，天气相当寒冷。
-- How is Sweden different from other northern countries?
瑞典与其他北欧国家有何不同？
-- I don’t know if we are that different. I mean in many ways, we are the same, living up in this kind of climate. We always used to be the biggest country and the richest country. Well. And now, Norway has found oil, so we’re not richest anymore.
我不认为有多大不同。在许多方面我们是相同的。因为气候环境相同。我们一向是最大与最富足的国家。但挪威发现石油后，我们能不再是最富有。
-- So, I’ve heard it said that it said that the, the Swedes have the middle way. They’re not too, too much this way, not too much that way.
我听说瑞典人相当中规中矩。总是保持中庸。
-- Well, you know, we, we hate to express a feeling which is very important to us. I mean, for example, if you ask me what I vote for, I’ll say “Well…” and I’ll find an excuse not to answer it. We also have a word in Swedish which we don’t have in other languages which is lagom. And that means “just enough.” I mean, everything should be as equal or as loagom as possible. Otherwise, it’s wrong. I mean, according to our hearts.
我们不爱表达自己私人的重要感情。例如如果你问我投票给谁，我会说：嗯，这个嘛...然后找借口不回答你。瑞典里有个字，是其他语言所没有的。Lagom, 意思是：够了。每件事情必须适可而止。否则就是不对的。需凭你的心行事。
